1972 DATSUN 240Z

This matching numbers 1972 Datsun 240Z was manufactured in November of 1971 and is powered by a 2393cc 6-cylinder engine producing 150HP at 6,000 RPM. A 4-speed manual transmission transfers the power to the rear wheels with front disc and rear drum brakes providing the stopping power.

We purchased this beauty from one of our long time repeat customers in Central California in October 2021. It was part of an extensive collection and had remained dormant since their purchase in 2006. Prior to that the vehicle was under the care of another long time California owner that had acquired the car in 1991.

After purchase we started the process of carefully bringing it back into service. We changed the fluids and soaked the cylinders with Marvel Mystery oil for several months. We had the gas tank cleaned, refurbished the original radiator, replaced the spark plugs and battery. We had the brakes bled and adjusted and sourced missing/worn components (seat upholstery, rubber seals, dash cap, OEM emblems etc.) from reputable vendors including Datsun Garage, ZeddSaver and Z Car Depot. The windshield and rear hatch glass were removed and the car was repainted over a period of 6 months in the original 918 Orange. New seals for the windshield and hatch glass were installed upon reassembly and period correct "Z" style hubcaps were sourced locally to mount onto the original date coded 1971 steel wheels.

The car remains very original with corresponding engine number and matching manufacturer placards. We believe the rear hatch glass (with vertical defroster filaments) is also original to the car due to its 11/71 production date.
