This 1990 Ferrari 348 Challenge was 1 of approximately 40 US units modified through Ferrari to race in the first ever North American Ferrari Challenge Race Series in 1994. A Challenge kit was sent out to participating Ferrari dealers and consisted of OMP composite seats with race harnesses, roll cage, Momo steering wheel, fire extinguisher, battery cut off switch and modified bumpers. This particular unit was modified by Rob Schermerhorn and was the 2nd of a total of 7 Challenge cars converted by him. It wore the number 29 and was campaigned by Lake Forest Sportscars in Lake Bluff, IL piloted by Thad Allen.

Upon completion of the series this 348 Challenge was converted back to "street configuration" to be sold. It remained in its home state of Illinois until 2008 before moving to Connecticut and then New Jersey in 2011. In 2013 the car was purchased by a California buyer and found its way into our possession 8 years later in 2021.

The 348 was one of the last models (along with the F40) designed and developed under the supervision and guidance of the company's founder Enzo Ferrari prior to his passing in 1988. It also marks the end of an era for analog cars and holds a significant place in Ferrari's racing history.
